LAS VEGAS- The Green Bay Packers continue to add pieces to their defense, selecting edge rusher Kingsley Enagbare in the fifth round Saturday, along with Georgia Tech safety Tariq Carpenter, and defensive tackles Johnathan Ford from Miami and Rasheed Walker from Penn State, and Nebraska reciever Samori Toure in the 7th round.
Toure (6’1″, 191 pounds) played just one year for the Nebraska Cornhuskers in 2021 after transferring from Montana. At Nebraska, Toure had 46 catches for 898 yards and 5 TDs with five 100-yard games. He was named third-team All-Big Ten by Pro Football Focus and was an honorable mention selection by the league’s media. Toure had 155 catches for 2,488 yards and 20 TDs, ranking in the top 12 in school history in each category over three seasons at Montana,

Johnathan Ford (6’5″ and 333 pounds) played in 50 games over five years, with 30 starts. As a starter in each of the last three seasons, his tackle total was in the teens, along with three career sacks, all in 2019. He was credited with a total of eight tackles for loss in his career.

Carpenter, which could be considered an inside linebacker, standing at 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, started 41 of his 52 career games over five seasons at Georgia Tech, registering 223 tackles, along with 4 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles. He also started 9 of 12 games played in 2021, posting a career-high 65 tackles and breaking up 3 passes, Carpenter’s mother is a retired Army officer as well.

Enagbare (6-4, 258) played defensive end in college but could be utilized as a outside linebacker in the NFL. Enagbare became a full-time starter for South Carolina in 2020 and broke out, recording six sacks and three forced fumbles in just eight games before a hip injury ended his season early. He earned first-team All-Southeastern Conference honors from the league’s coaches and second-team recognition from the media. He followed that up by being voted team captain in 2021 and posting 4½ sacks among seven tackles for loss. Pro Football Focus named him first-team All-SEC and third-team All-America. For his career, Enagbare played in 44 games with 21 starts and posted 15 sacks among 24 tackles for loss.

With two fourth round picks, the Packer select Nevada WR Romeo Doubs and Wake Forest OL Zach Tom.
Doubs (6-2, 201) was named first-team All-Mountain West Conference each of the last two years, topping 1,000 receiving yards each season. Last year, he posted career highs with 80 receptions for 1,190 yards and 11 TDs. In 2020, he had 58 catches for 1,002 yards and nine TDs in just nine games. He also scored a touchdown the first time he touched the football as a college player, returning a punt 80 yards for a score as a freshman in 2018.

The Packers selecting Zach Tom from Wake Forest with their compensatory pick. The 6-foot-4, 304-pound offensive lineman appeared in 48 games over the course of his career, making 37 starts including all 36 over the last three seasons. He started at left tackle the past two seasons for the Demon Deacons after starting his college career at center. He gave up just two sacks on 3,107 collegiate snaps. His brother, Cameron, was a four-year starter at Southern Miss and has played for New Orleans (2017-20) and Miami (2021).

With their third round pick, number 92 overall, the Green Bay Packers selected offensive linemen Sean Rhyan out of UCLA. Ryhan, who measured 6’4, 321 pounds, played tackle while at UCLA. The Packers lost Billy Turner and Lucas Patrick during the offseason and Rhyan will add needed depth to the offensive line room.
The Packers trading up to get NDSU standout WR Christian Watson. Packers trading the 53rd and 59th pick to the Minnesota Vikings for pick #34.
Watson has been one of the most explosive receivers at the FCS level since getting on the field at NDSU out of Plant High School in Tampa. As a redshirt freshman, he helped the Bison win yet another national title by contributing in 14 games (9-165-18.3 receiving; two starts). Watson was a second-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference selection in 2019, leading the eventual national champs with 34 receptions for 732 yards (ranking fourth in the FCS with 21.5 yards per reception) while scoring six times in 16 games (11 starts; also 13-162-12.5, one TD rushing; 4-70-17.5 kick returns). He was a first-team All-MVFC selection at receiver (19-442-23.3, one TD receiving: 21-116-5.5 rushing) and a second-team return specialist (10-338-33.8, two TD kick returns) in 2020, playing in 10 games with eight starts between the team’s lone game in the fall and its 2021 spring schedule. Watson garnered second-team Associated Press FCS All-American accolades (43-801-18.6, seven TDs receiving; 15-114-7.6, one TD rushing; 10-227-22.7 kick returns in 12 games, 10 starts) in 2021, as well as a first-team all-conference nod. He missed the team’s first three playoff games before starting in the national title game victory over Montana State.

The Packers are hoping the Georgia Bulldogs dominance continues from college into the pro’s.
The Packers using both their selections in the first round of last night’s draft to select two defensive players, both from the reigning national champion Georgia Bulldogs.
The Packers used their first pick (22nd overall) to select linebacker Quay Walker. Walker was a one-year starter at Georgia where he recorded a career best 67 tackles, 5.5 of them for a loss and recorded 1.5 sacks. The Packers used their second selection (28th overall) to select former Georgia defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt. Wyatt was also a starter on the Georgia team that won the NCAA Championship last season. In 14 games as a starter, Wyatt recorded 39 tackles, seven for loss with 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles.

The Packers select LB Quay Walker 22nd overall in the first round: The Georgia productās full name is Jaquavian Jy’Quese Walker. He was rated the No. 2 linebacker prospect and top-35 overall recruit nationally out of Crisp County High School. On the Bulldogs’ national championship defense, Walker (6-4, 241) had a career-best 67 tackles (39 solo), with 5½ tackles for loss and 1½ sacks. He was credited with 25 QB pressures in 15 games.

The Packers select DT Devonte Wyatt: Wyatt was a four-star prospect from Decatur, Georgia, when he signed with the Bulldogs. He went to Hutchinson Community College in 2017 (30 tackles, 4.5 for loss with three sacks) to improve his grades before heading to Athens. Wyatt played in 12 games as a reserve in 2018 (19 tackles, 1.5 sacks) and played in 13 games with one start in 2019 (30 tackles, 1.5 for loss). He became a regular starter in 2020 (25 tackles, two for loss in 10 games) and burst onto the scene as a first-team All-SEC selection to lead the Bulldogs’ national title run in 2021 (39 tackles, seven for loss with 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles in 14 starts).
