German Fest cancels for 2020 in wake of coronavirus

For the first time in the 40-year history of the annually-held German Fest…there won’t be a German Fest.

Following the trend of major events being canceled or postponed this summer, German Fest has announced it will not hold the 2020 festival as planned this July 24-26 at Henry W. Maier Festival Park, and will not hold any such festival this year.

“This decision was not arrived at lightly,” said Festival President Eric Radue, who said they looked at numerous alternative ideas for the festival.

“After much consideration and deliberation, the only responsible option…was to cancel German Fest this year.”

Summerfest chose to postpone its June-July festival until September, and Festa Italiana, held in July, canceled as well.
