WASHINGTON D.C. — The United State’s House of Representatives has voted in favor of a resolution calling on Vice President Mike Pence to remove President Trump via the 25th Amendment, 223-205.
The VP has already said he does not plan to use the 25th Amendment, and the House cannot force him to act. That means that the House is likely to focus on the article of impeachment introduced this week.
The article of impeachment is expected to pass in the Democratic-controlled House, which would make Trump the first president in U.S. history to be impeached twice.
“The facts are very clear: The president called for this seditious attack,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on the House floor ahead of the vote.
“I encourage my Republican colleagues to open their eyes and hold this president accountable.”
The House is expected to vote Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. ET.
