At the halfway point of the season, the best teams in the NFL reside in the AFC. In the NFC, the Buccaneers are in a tier of their own based upon their ability to win with offense or defense carrying the load. The Seahawks defense performed well for 3.5 quarters against the 49ers, and the Packers defense is void of the kind of needle-moving talent needed to win a Super Bowl. I digress…
POWER-10
- KC Chiefs
- The Chiefs rank 2nd in the NFL in scoring offense, and 3rd in scoring defense.
- Pittsburgh Steelers
- The only undefeated team in the NFL has matched it’s best start in franchise history (7-0).
- Baltimore Ravens
- The Ravens two losses have come against the teams occupying positions 1 and 2 in this week’s Power-10, Powerless-5.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Antonio Brown should be active in time for a Sunday night contest against the Saints. A rematch of week-1 won by New Orleans 34-23.
- Seattle Seahawks
- The final score Sunday against the 49ers (37-27) is in no way indicative of how one-sided this game was. Seattle led 30-7 in the 4th quarter.
- Green Bay Packers
- Aaron Jones and Allen Lazard are desperately needed. Both should be back sooner than later.
- Tennessee Titans
- Back-to-back losses. One excusable (vs Pittsburgh) and one inexcusable (vs Cincinnati).
- Arizona Cardinals
- The Cards have scored 105 points in a three game winning streak. A streak they will look to extend Sunday against the Dolphins.
- Buffalo Bills
- The Good: Rushed for 190 yards and 5 yards per carry in a 24-21 win over the Patriots. The Bad: Allowed 188 yards rushing and 5.5 per carry in a 24-21 win over the Patriots.
- New Orleans Saints
- Winning a cold weather game, on grass, over an above-500 Bears team, without Michael Thomas, the week before facing the Buccaneers, is no easy task.
Knocking on the door: Rams, Colts
POWERLESS 5
- (28) Washington Football Team
- A colossal NFC East clash with the NY Giants awaits.
- (29) Dallas Cowboys
- The Ben DeNucci era?
- (30) New York Giants
- Gave the Bucs all they could handle. Strangely, if this team had Saquon Barkley, it would win the NFC East.
- (31) Jacksonville Jaguars
- Coming off the BYE week. Unfortunately.
- (32) New York Jets
- The Jets are the reason Trevor Lawrence might consider staying at Clemson.
