SULLIVAN, Wis. — Crews with the National Weather Service will be out across southern and central Wisconsin today surveying areas impacted by severe weather Wednesday.
Officials confirmed Thursday a funnel cloud seen by many people in Dodge County between Hustisford and Waupun did in fact touch down as an EF-0 tornado with maximum wind speeds of 70 miles per hour. The tornado touched down around 3:22 p.m. and was on the ground for about 15 minutes, ending near Grey Road and Wildcat Road northeast of Hustisford around 3:36 p.m.
Another brief tornado with estimated winds around 65 miles per hour touched down in corn fields and tree lines near Buckhorn and Breezy Point Roads north of Beaver Dam around 3 p.m.
Multiple funnel clouds were confirmed across the state; several storm chasers reported a tornado on the ground for miles beginning near Dodgeville in southwest Wisconsin.
The weather service is focusing on 10 areas of rotation and says crews could need until at least Monday to survey all impacted areas if work isn’t completed Thursday.

Several communities in central Wisconsin were also impacted by several inches of rain and flash flooding. One to three inches fell across several areas, with Wautoma picking up at least five inches, according to our news partners at NBC 26.
While weather impacts on the Milwaukee metro area were minimal, the threat of severe weather forced the cancellation of several events including the Milwaukee Night Market and the Waukesha County Fair’s truck and tractor pulls.
