WAUKESHA, Wis. — Waukesha police say a man has died after a suspected lightning strike during Wednesday night’s storms.
Officers and fire crews were called around 7:43 p.m. to a business near Golf Road and Grandview Boulevard, just north of I-94. When they arrived, they found an unresponsive man in his 40s and began lifesaving efforts.
Authorities say the area was experiencing heavy rain, thunder, and lightning at the time, and evidence at the scene suggests the man was struck while walking through a parking lot.
He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Investigators say the victim is believed to be from out of state.
