WTMJ’s Wis. Morning News defines an EVERYDAY HERO as “an average Jon/Jane Doe who, when they woke up one morning, had no idea they’d be saving a life.”

In Everett, Washington, some boys were playing at Silver Lake. They were doing jumps and belly flops into when someone noticed an 11-year-old boy go in the water but never resurface. Shortly thereafter, 13-year-old Gauge Bryant told KOMO News the boy’s mother showed up asking if anyone had seen her son, and that he didn’t know how to swim.
Gauge jumped right into the water and was able to find the boy ten feet below the surface, according to reported KOMONews.
“I didn’t have time to process being scared cause if I was scared, I would have to get out of the water, so I kept going,” said Gauge.
He pulled the boy out and started chest compressions before paramedics arrived. The child was taken to the hospital where he is recovering.
Thank you Gauge for being an EVERYDAY HERO.
