In far southern Wisconsin, the bugs were spotted everywhere this spring, as part of a 17-year cycle.
“We are very rapidly coming to a close of cicada season,” UW entomologist PJ Liesch told WTMJ’s Wis. Morning News. “Within areas like Lake Geneva, it has definitely gotten quieter. There are still some out there but those will be disappearing within the next week or so.”
Some areas of the country dealt with a double brood of cicadas this year.
