For the fourth time in a week, Wisconsin has confirmed a record number of COVID-19 cases in a 24-hour period.
The latest numbers from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services show 964 tests have come back as positive in the last 24 hours.
There were 14,680 tests analyzed, bringing the positive percentage rate in Wisconsin to 6.6%, down from 7.5% in the previous 24-hour period.
Department of Health Services Secretary Designee Andrea Palm on Tuesday rejected the notion that an increase in testing is behind the record-breaking numbers.
“These numbers are not the result of more testing,” Palm said.
“These numbers are the result of significant community spread here in Wisconsin.”
Six new COVID-19 related deaths were announced on Tuesday as well. That brings the total number to 826.
