Southeastern Wisconsin could face both record heat and strong to severe storms today, according to WTMJ Storm Team Meteorologist Brian Niznansky.
“It will likely be the hottest day of the year so far. Highs should climb to around 90 degrees by this afternoon. The record high for Milwaukee today is also 90 degrees, set back in 1944,” he said..
The conditions could lead to severe storms this evening.
“Instability builds all day ahead of thunderstorms tonight, setting up a lot of fuel for these storms to be severe,” he said.
“The first potential round of storms likely arriving shortly after sunset may pack the biggest punch. Thunderstorms then continue on and off through the night and into tomorrow morning. Any storms should wrap up by mid-morning Wednesday.”
