LIBBY COLLINS: What’s the most unusual food challenge you’ve ever been involved in?
KATINA DEJARNETT: There’s one that I always go back to because it was one of my favorites and it had the most variety. It was at a restaurant called The Ugly Grouper in Florida, and it was this mixture of the craziest food types that you would never think go together but so did. I had to eat about 7.5 pounds of food, roughly, give or take, and it’s outside, there was live music. And I’m there eating like a Polynesian-style rice out of like a pineapple that was hollowed out, fried green tomatoes, mozzarella logs, these giant seafood tacos that had a cheese skirt coming out of them, a beautiful like turtle-style cheesecake, a cocktail. It was amazing. One of my favorite meals of all time. I don’t really recall feeling full after that because everything was so new and so enjoyable. I was just like getting it down. The hardest part was the heat. Eating in the heat is pretty rough, but that was so good.
