Big East Conference men’s basketball teams, including Marquette, are reportedly nearing a plan to add a Black Lives Matter patch to their jerseys for the 2020-21 campaign – an effort started by a Golden Eagles assistant coach.
MU assistant Dwayne Killings began the Coaches For Action campaign among 21 Black assistant coaches in the Big East. They pushed the conference adopt new initiatives to address racism, according to CBS Sports’ Gary Parrish.
One of the three initiatives includes having players wear Black Lives Matter patches on their uniforms and have coaches wear BLM pins.
Killings tells Parrish that Big East Conference Commissioner Val Ackerman and Associate Commissioner Stu Jackson approved those changes.
