Former Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes joins WTMJ’s Wisconsin’s Afternoon News to discuss Wisconsin’s Democratic primary for governor, including how he plans to reach undecided voters and why he believes his statewide experience sets him apart.
Barnes addressed his support from labor groups, rejected political labels in the race and said his campaign is focused on schools, jobs, healthcare and affordability.
Barnes also responded to questions about Governor Tony Evers endorsing Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley after his re-entry into the Democratic primary.
“A lot of people didn’t expect the Governor to get involved… that’s his choice to make. But it is also indicative of the kind of politics that people have been frustrated with for so long… People have experienced life in more difficult ways than you ever could have imagined in recent years. And while I’m incredibly grateful for Governor Evers, the time for bold leadership is now.”
