ORIGINAL POST:
Two people were found dead outside a home near Fort Atkinson Tuesday evening, in an incident involving both a house fire and shots fired.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence near State Highway 106 and County Highway A in Sumner, Wis. after a report of a possible burglary, according to the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
When they arrived at the home, they found two people dead on the driveway. Someone fired at a deputy from inside the home, according to the DOJ.
The deputy then discovered black smoke coming from inside the home. The house was soon engulfed in fire. Authorities wouldn’t say what happened to the person inside the home.
Investigators think this “incident was targeted, and not a random act,” per the DOJ.
There was no initial word on the identities of the two people on the driveway, the identity of the suspect or the damage to the home.
