One person is dead after a single-vehicle accident in Racine March 1, 2020.
Racine Police say they got word of the accident just after 2:30 a.m. on the 5000 block of Washington Avenue.
The initial report was of a vehicle striking a pole. When officers and Racine Fire arrived, they found the vehicle was engulfed in flames.
The driver of the vehicle, the only person inside, passed away.
Racine Police are continuing to investigate a cause for the accident. They were also assisted by the Racine County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol at the scene.
Highway 20, which is also Washington Avenue, was blocked off to traffic for several hours as law enforcement and investigators were at the scene.
