2019 got off to a deadly start in Milwaukee, with two shootings that killed two and injured two others before sunrise.
The first took place around 2:50 a.m. around the 3400 block of North 5th Street near Keefe Avenue. Police say once officers arrived they found a 37-year-old man with a serious gunshot wound. Despite efforts to treat the wound, the person died at the scene.
About 10 minutes later, two other people arrived at a Milwaukee area hospital with gunshot wounds from the same location. The 40-year-old male and 30-year-old female were last reported to be in critical condition.
The second shooting took place around 4:20 a.m. on the 1500 block of South 10th Street near Lapham. Police say the incident began with a two vehicle accident that resulted in an argument between the people involved. It escalated to the point where someone got a firearm and shot a 30-year-old male. Despite efforts by the Milwaukee Fire Department to assist the injured, the victim passed away.
Investigations into both shootings are ongoing.
