MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Brewers star Christian Yelich is preparing for what many hope is another MVP calliber season, but he realizes it will be different.
“I really didn’t ever have the thought of opting out or anything like that,” Yelich said in a zoom interview with reporters.
Despite calling it “an easy call,” the former MVP adds that it’s important to respect his teammates are their respective concerns surrounding COVID-19.
“But guys are all in different boats and if you choose to opt out or if we ever had anybody that chose to opt out, then you would fully support that decision and understand where they were coming from. You know it’s a unique year. It’s something that we haven’t experienced before and guys have varying comfort levels with what’s going on, so if someone chose not to play on our team, I would definitely support them,” Yelich said.
Accoridng to MLB Insider Bob Nightengale, MLB plans to relase the full schedule on Monday July 6. Opening Day for the Brewers will likely be July 24.
