GREEN BAY — The Green Bay Packers will take on the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, marking the third postseason meeting for these franchises.
The first matchup was in 1967 at County Stadium in Milwaukee. It was Vince Lombardi’s final season as the head coach, and he was going for his third straigh NFL title, second straight Super Bowl.
NFL Hall of Famer and Packers’ Legend Dave Robinson had a major impact on the game, blocking a field goal in the first quarter while his defensive unit held the Rams to seven total points.
Robinson says “you don’t get used [to playing] in cold weather, you learn how to deal with it.” The linebacker went on to discuss that the practicing in negative temperatures and cold weather as a whole gives Green Bay a major advantage.
As far as fans being allowed in for the first time this year, Robinson jokingly says “it would be a lot better in 80,000 people were there.”
The Packers defeated the Rams in the first and only round of the 1967 playoffs, 28-7, on their way to capturing another Super Bowl.
Can history repeat itself for the Green and Gold in 2020? They may not be in Milwaukee, but snow and cold temperatures headline the forecast.
