Wis. DHS Investigating Janesville School District, after announcing staff would be vaccinated next Friday

UW-Health to begin vaccinating frontline healthcare workers Monday afternoon

CARDIFF, WALES - DECEMBER 08: A close-up of a Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine before it is given to a patient at Cardiff and Vale Therapy Centre on December 8, 2020 in Cardiff, Wales. Wales joined the other UK nations in rolling out the covid-19 vaccine on Tuesday, a rare moment of coordination after months of disjointedness in the four nations' pandemic response. Wales introduced a 17-day "firebreak" lockdown in October and November to suppress the surge in covid-19 cases, but infections have continued to rise. (Photo by Matthew Horwood/Getty Images)

JANESVILLE — The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is investigating the Janesville School District, following their announcement Thursday that all staff would be vaccinated next Friday, January 22.

According to our partners at WISC-TV, ducators are expected to be included in Phase 1b of the rollout — those classifications have not been finalized yet — but the state is still in Phase 1a, covering frontline health care workers, residents and staff at long-term care facilities and first responders.

District spokesperson Patrick Gasper says their vaccinations are coming through Mercyhealth in Janesville, but could not answer why the district was getting the vaccines while the state remains in phase 1A.
