Bob Uecker documentary composer reveals how the film captures the sound of a Milwaukee legend

The new Bob Uecker documentary is giving fans a deeper look at the Milwaukee Brewers icon, but one of the most important parts of the film is something viewers may feel before they fully notice it: the music.

On What’s on Tap, co-director Michael T. Vollmann and composer Alex Drossart discussed how the documentary’s score helps tell Uecker’s story, from the upbeat swagger of his broadcasting career to the more emotional moments tied to his legacy.

Vollmann said the project began filming in 2023 during Brewers spring training in Scottsdale, Arizona, after a memorable lunch with Uecker helped launch the full-length documentary. He said the team had talked for years about how fitting it would be to make a film about Uecker, who spent more than 50 years as the voice of Brewers baseball.

The Bob Uecker documentary is currently being shown on screens around Wisconsin, with more screenings possible as audience interest continues.
