The Milwaukee County Historical Society will host “We the People” Community Day on Saturday, August 8, celebrating Milwaukee’s diverse history, cultures and communities.
The free event is connected to the Historical Society’s new exhibit, We the People: Milwaukee’s Stories of Immigration, Citizenship and Community. The exhibit explores the many immigrant communities that helped shape Milwaukee, including German, Irish, Polish, Italian, Mexican, Chinese and Hmong communities.
Visitors can enjoy multicultural performances, food trucks, family activities, crafts and the Historical Society’s oral history collection. Scheduled entertainment includes Hmong drumming and singing, flamenco music, Irish step dancing, Mexican folkloric dancing and traditional Hmong dancing.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Milwaukee County Historical Society. For more information, visit milwaukeehistory.net.
