JACKSON, Wis.– A construction worker is facing potentially life-threatening injuries after a woman drove into a construction zone in Washington County.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a 48-year-old woman from Waldo was driving a SUV westbound on State Highway 60 on Friday, July 24.
The woman crossed over the centerline and hit the construction worker near the intersection of Country Aire and Highway 60 in the Town of Jackson.
The construction worker, a 35-year-old man from West Bend, was hit while removing dirt in the eastbound lane on Highway 60. He was on foot, wearing high-visibility clothing in the construction zone.
The man was taken to the hospital for serious injuries.
After hitting the man, the woman then crashed into a home on the southwest side of the same intersection. She stayed at the scene and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The two people inside the home were not injured.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
