The city of Milwaukee will make $20 million available for businesses to receive in grants to help them restart after the first two months of the coronavirus pandemic.
Mayor Tom Barrett announced that the money, from federal funding and possibly other sources, will be available for businesses with 20 or fewer employees and with less than $2 million in annual revenue.
Businesses can receive grants of up to $15,000 for three areas:
- The purchase of personal protective equipment for employees
- Investments in modifications to business spaces and operations that reduce the spread of disease
- Restocking perishable inventory
Businesses can apply starting on May 28 and through June 12.
Grant recipients will be required, as will all Milwaukee businesses, to follow city directives for COVID-19-related safety.
