MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The public is invited to a grand opening next month in downtown Milwaukee, as well as a celebratory “yappy hour”.
The first-ever dog park downtown will open to the public August 20th. The $2 million facility at 103 West Clybourn Street is mostly covered from above by Interstate 794.
“The Downtown Milwaukee Dog Park is the realization of years of collective effort, dedication, and generosity from individuals and organizations across Milwaukee,” said Executive Director for both BID #2 and the Milwaukee Public Market Paul Schwartz. “By transforming an underutilized stretch of riverfront into a welcoming space, we are investing in an amenity that improves quality of life and strengthens connections across the Historic Third Ward and Downtown Community.”
The park will measure more than 23,000 square-feet, and is expected to include fenced-in exercise areas for small and large dogs, water stations, and a new riverwalk segment as part of the city’s nearly $3 million project aiming to enhance the stretch between the new dog park and a planned Foxtown Brewery facility next door.
Visitors will need a Milwaukee County dog park pass to enter the facility. Day passes are $6 each, with annual passes starting at $35 dollars a year for city residents and $39 for non-residents.
