MILWAUKEE — A local firefighter from Hales Corners is being charged with one count of first-degree reckless homicide, and use of a dangerous weapon after he shot and killed 24-year-old Andre Nicholson Jr. in Milwaukee’s Third Ward.
According to the criminal complaint, Caesar Fuentes, 23, shot Nicholson six times after the two got into an argument over high school basketball. Prosecutors say Fuentes called Nicholson a “Whitefish Bay (expletive),” and Nicholson hit him. Nicholson was asked to leave the bar and Fuentes followed him minutes later.
Witnesses say Fuentes used racial slurs against Nicholson and bar security says Nicholson sucker punched Fuente.
While on the phone with his uncle outside, Nicholson was shot six times in an ally near the intersection of Water and Buffalo. His family arrived to the scene before first responders, and despite life saving measures he was pronounced dead on the scene.
Fuentes eventually turned himself in. His cash bond was set at $75,000 Sunday, and his initial court appearance will be Dec. 23rd.
