Wisconsin has set a new record for positive COVID-19 cases identified in a 24-hour period.
The latest numbers from the Department of Health Services show 978 new cases were announced on Saturday, breaking the previous 24-hour record set on July 14th.
DHS says 12,424 tests were analyzed, putting the positive percentage rate at 7.9%.
That’s an increase from the 6.6% announced in the previous 24-hour period.
Ten new COVID-19 related deaths were announced as well on Saturday, bringing that total number to 843.
51 new hospitalizations were also announced on Saturday. So far, 9.8% of all Wisconsinites who have contracted COVID-19 have required hospitalization.
