Wisconsin’s largest health care provider is reportedly working on a potential merger with Michigan’s biggest health care company, according to WTMJ news partner Milwaukee Business Journal.
Advocate Aurora Health and Beaumont Health have reportedly signed a letter of intent “that paves the way to deeper discussions to create a leading health care system that would span across Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois.” The letter is apparently non-binding.
Advocate Aurora CEO Jim Skogsbergh tells the Milwaukee Business Journal the move allows for better supply chains for medical prescriptions and leverage in negotiations with insurance providers.
Advocate Aurora rose from a merger in 2018 in which Milwaukee-based Aurora Health Care came and Advocate Health Care in suburban Chicago.
Beaumont Health is mainly based in the suburbs of Detroit.
