Another blast of arctic air has the state DOT taking a cautious approach to a stretch of I-94 that was recently impacted by the cold February.
Since Saturday, the right lane of northbound I-94 between County Road G in Racine County northward to Ryan Road in Milwaukee County has been blocked to traffic. The DOT says it is due to the potential for the temporary pavement buckling in the cold weather.
It was in this same stretch of the interstate back on February 22 where frost heave cause two lanes to need emergency road repair, closing the lanes for roughly 10 hours and creating long delays.
The DOT adds they will be coming up with new plans to address the temporary pavement for the interstate to make it stronger. They are also warning drivers to watch out for potential pavement issues elsewhere due to the cold.
