He was part of the Packers’ special teams and gave emotional strength for fans during the first Monday night football game after 9/11.
Now, Chris Gizzi will literally lead the charge for the Packers’ strength and conditioning team.
The Packers announced they are promoting Gizzi to be the strength and conditioning coordinator for the team after having served in different capacities for six years as an intern and assistant.
Gizzi, from the Air Force Academy, ran out of the Lambeau Field tunnel with the American flag before kickoff when Green Bay hosted Washington in the first Monday Night game following the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
Mark Lovat, who served in the strength and conditioning coordinator role for nine seasons in Green Bay, will again be an assistant, a previous role for him in the organization.
So will Thaddeus Jackson and Grant Thorne, whom the Packers also are keeping on staff.
