The Wisconsin Department of Health Services says that after four days of a downward trend in the percentage of positive coronavirus tests, the latest one-day date shows a rise in positive test percentages.
The state says that eight percent of tests from the latest available day of data were positive – a 25 percent increase compared to Thursday’s percentage of just six percent, the lowest percentage in two weeks.
“This analysis indicates there has not been a significant downward trend in the past 14 days.” said the Department of Health Services in their latest data release. The 14 day downward trend is a key piece of what the DHS calls the “Badger Bounce Back” plan needed to help re-start the Wisconsin economy after so many businesses closed due to concerns over coronavirus spread.
There are 9,590 confirmed cases in Wisconsin and a total of 384 deaths from COVID-19.

The state of Wisconsin has now seen its smallest percent of daily positive coronavirus test results in the last two weeks, solidifying a positive statewide trend.
According to just-released data from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, just six percent of test results statewide have come back positive. It also is the fourth consecutive day that the positive test percentage has been smaller than previous days.
The state did not yet release full test numbers.
Milwaukee County has now seen 3,601 positive tests in the county, and a 35 percent positive test percentage according to the county’s own data. That is the highest test percentage since the pandemic began and a three-day trend of consecutive percentage increases, an opposite trend from within the state pverall.
Wednesday, 1:48 p.m.
For the third straight day, we’re seeing a hopeful trend in the statewide percentage of positive coronavirus tests in Wisconsin.
The state announced Wednesday that the latest one-day data shows eight percent of COVID-19 tests being positive, the third consecutive day where the percentage of tests in the state was smaller than the day before.
That comes on a record day of testing, with more than 4,000 people being tested in the state.
Four of the five days between April 30 and May 3 led to a higher percentage of positive tests than the day before, but May 4-6 have each produced a smaller percentage. This is one of the key trends required for the Wisconsin “Badger Bounce Back” to take effect.
Tuesday, 1:52 p.m.
The latest update from the state of Wisconsin hows that the percentage of positive coronavirus tests collected in the last 24 hours is about 8.6 percent.
After an up-and-down stretch of numerous days, that produces a short but positive trend for the state in its fight to control COVID-19. The “Badger Bounce Back” program requires a “downward trajectory of positive tests as a percent of total tests within a 14-day period.”
There have been 8,566 positive coronavirus tests in the state of Wisconsin, with 353 deaths in the state. 83,967 tests have come out negative.
Of the 1,663 hospitalized COVID-19 patients, 328 are currently in the hospital.
Tuesday, 8:43 a.m.
The latest numbers from Milwaukee County say that 3,360 people have tested positive for coronavirus.
Combined with the latest numbers from the state of Wisconsin from Monday afternoon, there are at least 8,290 people who have had positive coronavirus tests.
The largest batch of positive tests in the county the last seven days has been found on the south side, between Greenfield Avenue on the north and Howard Avenue on the south, and between 27th Street on the west and I-94 to the east.
Monday, 2:22 p.m.
The percentage of positive coronavirus tests between Sunday and today continues to run around 10 percent in the state of Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services said that about 9.9 percent of tests in the state reported in the last 24 hours were positive – the first day in four where the percentage of positive tests to total tests were under 10 percent. However, those numbers reflect a general rise in cases after what had been a four-day downturn.
This continues the status of not achieving what the current “Badger Bounce Back” plan says is required: A “downward trajectory of positive tests as a percent of total tests within a 14-day period.”
In total, 340 people have died in the state due to coronavirus-related cases.
At least 8,261 people in Wisconsin have contracted the virus, according to data released this afternoon both from the State of Wisconsin and Milwaukee County.
3,331 cases have happened in Milwaukee County, according to the county. (The state had previously listed 3,296 an hour before the county released its newest numbers.)
80,467 people have had negative tests in the state.
