Nearly 50 bartenders from around Milwaukee are donating their time to honor one of their own.
Jamie Hanson, known to many as James, was struck and killed during a hit-and-run Christmas Eve in Milwaukee.
Friends and co-workers are holding the James Hanson Memorial Benefit to honor her memory Monday night at the Milwaukee Brat House.
“It sounds like such a bigger project than it was,” said Brat House General Manager Joe Conforti. “Everybody in the community has just been so overwhelmingly positive and willing to help out in anyway they can.”
The 50 bartenders will work in 30 minute shifts to play bar dice with patrons. All proceeds will help her family cover funeral costs and different charities Hanson supported.
In addition, there will be dozens of raffles and other prizes up for bidding.
“She was just so special,” Conforti said. “She was the best.”
