Opening Day is finally here!
“I had to remind myself last night that this is really Opening Day,” David Stearns, Brewers president of baseball operations and general manager, tells WTMJ.
“Yes, it’s different and strange and it’s not usual and there are a whole host of issues going on in our world right now that deserve our attention. But this is Opening Day and this is a Major League season and it’s something to celebrate. I’m very much looking forward to getting it started.”
As if the pandemic wasn’t enough change for the Brewers, they also have a handful of new faces on their roster.
“I think we’ve got a number of unique personalities on the team, a number of unique skill sets. We’re excited to get them all together and begin to watch the team we envisioned when we were putting this all together, what seems like ages ago.”
Stearns says he will be one of the few at Wrigley Field tonight watching his team, but admits he will be listening to Uecker when he can.
“It lends a sense of normalcy, not only to our industry but I think to our entire community and the state of Wisconsin when they hear Ueck on the radio.”
