A young starting pitcher would need to be part of the cost the Milwaukee Brewers would have to pay in order to get Madison Bumgarner on their roster, according to a report.
Jon Morosi of MLB Network and Fox Sports says that the Giants have said they would want a pitcher such as Corbin Burnes, Freddy Peralta or Brandon Woodruff as part of any trade deal in order to get the long-time anchor of the Giants' pitching staff.
Last year, Bumgarner went 6-7 with a 3.26 ERA. He has a career 110-83 record with a 3.03 ERA, and has never had an ERA worse than 3.37 for his entire 10-year career.
He is a four-time All-Star and a 2014 NLCS and World Series MVP. He was part of two World Series winning Giants teams in 2012 and 2014.
Corbin Burnes went 7-0 with a 2.61 ERA in 30 games last year, all in relief. Peralta was 6-4 with a 4.25 ERA in 16 appearances, including 14 starts. Woodruff went 3-0 with a 3.61 ERA in 19 games, including four starts.
