The polka band West Coast Prost is teaming up with Eddy J. Lemberger to revamp his classic hit ‘I Love My Green Bay Packers!’
Lemberger wrote the original song during the team’s 1996-1997 Super Bowl season.
“This season definitely made me think [of the song] again,” said Jason Fabus, West Coast Prost Bandleader. “I guess we’re over 20 years later, and I have an Oktoberfest polka band out here in California. A majority of us are Packers fans.”
Fabus says they wanted to give the song a more modern feel to celebrate this season, along with a full band backing Lemberger.
“It had actually been on my mind for a couple of years to revamp the song and do a new version,” Fabus told WTMJ. “Let’s get an accordion in there, let’s get some tuba, the whole kitten kaboodle.”
The band had to record their parts separately because of the pandemic, but it only took about four days to come together.
