A lot could happen this weekend for the Green Bay Packers.
They could clinch the top seed in the NFC with a win over the Bears or a Seahawks loss to the 49ers.
They could end up 2nd if they lose, the Seahawks win, and the Saints lose.
Or they could drop all the way to 3rd if they lose, and both the Seahawks and Saints win.
In short, there’s plenty to play for.
And that’s a good thing.
In 2011, the Packers had the top seed wrapped up heading into Week 17.
They rested their starters, got the first round bye, then came out rusty in an upset loss to the eventual Super Bowl Champion New York Giants.
The rest hurt them.
This year, the first round bye is there for the taking, but they can still maintain some momentum.
In addition, Aaron Rodgers is playing to lock up his 3rd career MVP.
And Davante Adams is 4 catches and 2 touchdowns away from setting franchise records in both of those categories.
Motivation is there. Incentive is there. Reward is there.
Rest is for the weary.
The Green Bay Packers are far from it.
