An important study is underway at UW Health in Madison.
It’s one of the first clinical sites in the country to test a new COVID-19 vaccine.
“In the next week, we’re hoping to recruit about 250 participants each week, Dr. Bill Hartman, the principal investigator for the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine phase 3 clinical trial, tells WTMJ.
“Participants will all get a vaccine or a placebo injection on day one. They’ll get another one on day 29. And then we’re going to follow them through five to seven appointments over the next two years so that we can see… do they develop any reaction? do they develop COVID-19? do they keep antibodies in their system long term?”
People interested in learning more about participating in the study can do so by emailing [email protected], calling the hotline at 608-262-8300 or 833-306-0681, or by visiting https://www.c19vaccinestudy.com/.
