KENOSHA- Four protesters arrested for violating curfew in Kenosha over the past 10 days have filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the City of Kenosha and Kenosha County.
Filed in District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, the four plaintiffs accuse police of selectively enforcing the curfew law, which was put into place after last week’s protests over the shooting of Jacob Floyd turned destructive.
Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth says police arrested more than 200 people who participated in protests since August 23rd, 69 of those for curfew violations. Beth, nor the Kenosha Police Department, has not released the identities of those arrested.
Two of the plaintiffs in the case are from Kenosha, another from Wauwatosa, and another from Milwaukee.
The lawsuit also alleges that pro-police protesters and armed vigilantes are coordinating with Kenosha police. An accusation that’s been denied by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department.
