MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Former NFL quarterback and Burlington, Wisconsin native Tony Romo was arrested July 23 in Milwaukee on suspicion of operating while intoxicated.
Romo was arrested around 6:18p.m. on I-43 south of the high rise bridge. He was booked and released from the Milwaukee County Jail. According to an arrest-detention record obtained by WTMJ, Romo was given a standard field sobriety test and “performed poorly”.
First-offense OWI is not a criminal charge in Wisconsin; it is typically a civil offense with a citation often issued between $150 and $300.
The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback was in Wisconsin participating in the Wisconsin State Amateur golf event in West Bend earlier in the day.
Romo is due back in court September 21.
