MILWAUKEE — Wisconsin Lt. Governor Sara Rodriguez officially ends her campaign for governor.
In a posting on social media on July 17, Rodriguez says she’s suspending her campaign because the scrutiny over her financial reports “would be an ongoing distraction – not just for this campaign, but for the primary and for Wisconsin”.
Rodriguez says she’s “deeply hurt and betrayed by what happened”, after she was forced to fire her campaign manager over campaign finance reporting issues on July 13.
The shakeup comes less than a month before Wisconsin’s Aug. 11 Democratic gubernatorial primary, which now has four candidates, to face Republican front-runner Congressman Tom Tiffany.
