WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is updating drivers on a planned 54-hour closure of the Rock Freeway in Waukesha County starting in the evening on July 17.
As part of the ongoing I-43 pavement replacement and improvement project, WisDOT will be closing part of the interchange between I-43 and Wisconsin 164 (WIS 164).
Starting at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, and running until 6:00 a.m. in Monday, July 20:
- WIS 164, between County ES (National Avenue) and Woodland Lane, is scheduled to close to traffic for storm sewer work and roadway widening.
- Both WIS 164 on-ramps to I-43, and the northbound I-43 exit ramp to WIS 164 will be closed during this work.
- The southbound I-43 exit ramp will remain open to northbound WIS 164 traffic only.
WisDOT says access to the Big Bend Park and Ride lot will be open and available.
They also recommend that motorists use the posted detours on WIS 164, WIS 36, WIS 83, and County ES (National Avenue) to get around the closures.
WisDOT also reminds motorists that the planned work is weather dependent, and to review the 511 website for the latest travel times and conditions.
