UPDATE at 6:15 a.m. on 2/17/2026: The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner confirms that 61-year-old Venus Harding died after being ejected from her car after a rollover crash near 36th and Mitchell early Sunday morning.
Her 34-year-old daughter Chauntelle Anthony died hours later at the hospital.
Police say speed was a factor in the crash.
MILWAUKEE— Two people are dead after a single-car crash on Milwaukee’s south side early Sunday morning.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department, the crash happened around 2:55 a.m. near South 36th Street and West Mitchell Street, just south of American Family Field.
Police say the vehicle was involved in a fatal, single-car accident. The victim has not yet been identified and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second person inside the car was critically injured and taken to the local hospital with severe injuries. In an update February 16, Milwaukee Police confirmed the second person had died.
Investigators say speed was a factor in the crash.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office confirms it was called to the scene.
