Door County — Deputies in Door County saw something last night that made them double-take.
During a routine speeding stop on State Highway 42, deputies noticed the driver was cruising through the darkness with a handheld flashlight taped and pointed forward where a headlight should’ve been.
While creative, the Door County Sheriff’s Office using a flashlight as a headlight is not road-legal and not safe. Headlights are designed to provide powerful, consistent visibility.
The department used the moment to remind drivers to give their cars a quick equipment check before hitting the road, preferably by replacing broken headlights with actual headlights.
