HUSTISFORD, Wis. — The Village of Hustisford clerk/treasurer is in custody, accused of theft and embezzlement of village funds.
Kim Hopfinger was arrested September 29 by Dodge County Sheriff’s deputies. Village leaders contacted the sheriff’s office for an investigation earlier in September. A detailed audit found significant discrepancies in the village’s finances, with a “significant amount of money” stolen from the village and pointing directly to Hopfinger.
The investigation also found that she embezzled funds related to her time as the treasurer of the Hustisford Soccer Club.
Hopfinger was booked into the Dodge County Jail on charges of misconduct in public office, and theft by virtue of employment greater $10,000 but less than $100,000. Charges are being referred to the Dodge County District Attorney.
