The statewide mask mandate will be extended, Gov. Evers announced Wednesday.
“I will be declaring a new state of emergency this week, extending our public health emergency until January of 2021,” Evers said.
The governor’s announcement comes as COVID-19 deaths continue to rise and hospitals deal with capacity issues. Nearly 8-thousand new positive cases were announced Wednesday.
“Call it what you want,” Evers explained. “Flattening the curve. Stopping the spread. Safer at home. I’m going to call it what it is. It’s about saving lives.”
The mandate was set to expire on Saturday.
