One person is dead and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash on I-94 in Waukesha County late Saturday night.
The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department says they got word around 11:47 p.m. of the accident in the westbound lanes of the interstate near County Highway BB in Summit.
Their initial investigation determining a vehicle traveling west lost control and struck the rear of a semi truck that was legally parked along the shoulder of the interstate.
Of the three people inside the vehicle that caused the accident, a 19-year-old woman died at the scene. A 19-year-old male driver and a 19-year-old male passenger were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries and released.
The semi truck driver was not injured.
The accident caused the westbound lanes of I-94 in the area to close for nearly five hours.
The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate with assistance from the Wisconsin State Patrol. Additional help was provided at the scene by the Oconomowoc Police Department, Summit Police Department, and Western Lakes Fire Department.
