Wauwatosa Police confirm gas was used against protestors for a third straight night.
It comes as protests continue following the decision by Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm not to charge Wauwatosa Police Officer Joseph Mensah for the shooting death of Alvin Cole back in February of 2020.
Police shared through their Twitter account that they declared protestors gathered at North 76th Street and West North Avenue, around Wauwatosa’s City Hall and Library, an unlawful assembly around 7:12 p.m.
Over the next 50 minutes, several lines of law enforcement moved towards the protestors to get them to disperse.
Just after 8 p.m. law enforcement used tear gas to get the crowd to move out of the area. Police claim they were being struck with bottles.
Law enforcement officers were struck with bottles, and deployed tear gas to stop the unlawful assembly.

At around 8:45. Wauwatosa Police say despite some protestors using garbage dumpsters to block lanes of North Avenue, most have disperse. They are working to arrest those who refuse to leave and violating curfew.
The group has mostly dispersed. Those who are still out in violation of the emergency curfew are being ordered to leave, and any who refuse to do so are being arrested.
