MILWAUKEE — In a press conference Saturday afternoon, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett announced a 9 p.m. curfew would go into effect Saturday night.
Milwaukee police said there were 16 businesses that were looted after what they are calling “civil unrest.”
Barrett advocating for the peaceful protesting that happened Friday afternoon, but says the damage and looting overnight cannot happen.
“I share the anger over what has happened. It’s real. It’s raw. I hope it’s something every American is angry about because this is not the America we should have,” Barrett adds.
Milwaukee police said 50 individuals were arrested and one police officer was shot after protests on Friday evening turned violent.
