The weather may have played a factor in a fatal two-vehicle accident in western Racine County Sunday afternoon.
The Racine County Sheriff’s Office says they got word of the accident around 4:30 p.m. on Highway 20 near 63rd Drive. They determined a vehicle traveling east lost control and struck a vehicle traveling west on the highway.
There were ten people inside the two vehicles. Emergency responders needed to extricate three of the people inside.
As of late Sunday evening one person has died from their injuries, while numerous others are being treated for critical injuries.
The accident prompted a closure of Highway 20 for over five hours as emergency responders were at the scene.
