MILWAUKEE- The City of Milwaukee is awarding Lime the first contract to participate in its dockless scooter pilot program.
The City launched the pilot program earlier this year after Governor Evers signed legislation legalizing the use of the scooters.
According to the City of Milwaukee, Lime will be authorized to dump a fleet of 500 scooters within city limits as part of this initial program. Riding on the sidewalk is prohibited, as is parking the scooter on the Riverwalk.
As part of the deal, Lime will be responsible for taking consumer complaints and providing safety guidelines to people who use their machines.
Two other companies, Bird and Spin, have submitted applications to participate in the pilot program, though their applications are still pending. The pilot program will run through December 31st of this year.
