After years of a push to adopt “The People’s Flag” as the new flag for the City of Milwaukee, the Common Council has started an entirely new process to decide upon a new flag for the city.
The 15-member council unanimously approved a “request for qualifications and request for proposals designing and adopting a new official city flag” on Tuesday.
A previous Common Council committee had agreed to the request on April 25.
The flag would replace the current blue flag with multicolored trim which has been in use for decades.
There is no word yet on whether the People’s Flag will be a candidate. The city aims to have a new flag in place by June 1, 2020.
